Now that we have paid some bills, lets get into the lesson of the day which is the essential must have products and why you need them. Products are very essential in your natural hair journey and knowing how best to use them, will make your natural hair journey a bliss and your hair will thank you. So, if you want healthy and flourishing natural hair, get these products and learn how best them.

Essential Must Have Hair Products

Shampoo/ Cleanser

Dirty hair never looked on anyone and I know you have seen ladies say that dirty hair grows faster which is a lie. Dirt and product build up will not only weigh your hair down, make it oily and clog your hair follicles. A shampoo is essential for removing all the dirt and product buildup from your hair and scalp keeping your hair and scalp clean. We have moisturizing shampoos or rather gentle cleansers and deep cleansing shampoo which are mostly sulphate shampoo that are perfect for removing buildup from your hair.

Use sulphate/ deep cleansing shampoo after a long term protective hairstyle to remove all the buildup. It is also beneficial for queens with low porosity hair since this porosity type is prone to product buildup. Deep cleansing shampoos are not ideal for high porosity hair, they leave it dry. When it comes to high porosity and regular hair cleansing, use a moisturizing and gentle cleansing shampoo like the Mazuricare moisturizing shampoo which is a rich, hydrating shampoo that gently cleanses while replenishing moisture and restoring softness to dry or damaged hair.

Deep Conditioner.

Deep conditioners are a must have especially the moisturizing deep conditioner, which restores and moisturizes your strands immediately after shampooing. We have three types of deep conditioners: moisturizing deep conditioner, protein treatments and balanced deep conditioners. Moisturizing deep conditioners function is to moisturize your strands, protein treatments repair air damage and strengthen your hair minimizing hair breakage and lastly balanced deep conditioner have both moisturizing and protein properties.

If you have damaged hair, protein treatments are very essential and you can use them monthly. When using protein treatments, always follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner for moisturizing benefits. If you are not sure whether your hair needs a protein treatment or not, go for the balanced deep conditioner like the mazuricare Aloe Protein Deep Fix Conditioner which has both moisturizing and protein ingredients which will maintain the moisture-protein balance in your natural hair.

Leave-in Conditioner.

A very essential must never miss hair product that will keep your hair manageable, moisturized and soft in between wash days. A leave-in conditioners moisturizes your hair and activates your coils and curls in between wash days. Immediately after rinsing off the moisturizing deep conditioner, follow up with a leave-in conditioner on wet or damp hair whichever works best for you. Personally, I apply when my hair is a little wet to add on to the moisture before locking in the moisture with a sealant.

We also have moisturizing leave-in conditioners and protein deep conditioners which have some protein ingredients in them. If you are using protein treatments, using protein leave-in conditioners can be a little too much and may cause protein overload. When using a leave-in conditioner between wash days, start by spraying your hair with water or moisturizing spritz until damp then apply the leave-in conditioner.

Mazuricare Cheri Daily Spritz is my go to refreshing hair mist, I spray it on my hair then follow up with the mazuricare leave-in conditioner which keeps my hair moisturized for 2-3 days when wearing my Afro out and all week long when on a protective style like two strand twists. Cheri daily spritz is one of my favorite products, it’s very moisturizing, you can use in between wash days without applying the leave-in conditioner, it’s that good.

Sealants [Butters and Oils]

Sealants lock in the moisture keeping your hair moisturized, soft and manageable. After applying a leave-in conditioner, follow up with either a butter, oil or both. Personally I prefer to use butters as sealants and oils as a pre-poo treatment, hot oil treatment and for that relaxing and growth stimulating scalp massage.

Mazuricare shungi hair oil for me it’s a perfect scalp massaging oil and their shea mazuri hair butter is the best moisture sealant.

The above products are a must for a healthy natural hair routine. If you don’t have a hair care routine yet and wanna create one, this guide will help you. Other than these essential must hair products, here are more hair products and how your hair benefits from them:

  • Curl creams– this will give you the juicy coils and curls especially for those who want to nail braid outs and twist outs.
  • Heat Protectant– hair straightening girlies, this is for you. Protect your hair from heat damage by using these products the next time you are using heat.
  • Styling gels– for those sleek buns, this is your go to product that will give you the sleek buns and keep the hair in place without flyaways.
  • Edge control gel– you love those laid and gorgeous edges, this the product for you.

You don’t have to get all the products and brands in the store, start with the essential ones from the same brand and keep switching as you figure out what is working and what isn’t. If you’re a DIY queen, go for it. Personally I’m not huge on DIY though my favorite DIY of all time is the rosemary infused oil, perfect for hot oil treatments and scalp massages.

That’s it for today’s lesson, see you in the next one. I would like to know which products are a must have for you.
