Perfecting Natural Hair flat twists and Tips

Well, I tried doing flat twists a week or so ago and thought I should share with you guys all have learnt about flat twists after my first trial.

Heeyyah mane embracers, how’re y’all holding up? Thank you for stopping by and welcome to my natural hair blog.

My twists just got flattened, the two strand twists just went flat on my head😂😂😂. The best opening phrase I would come up with.

I have to say the flat twists were gorgeous but a girl can’t section her hair to get perfect and neat flat twists but life is too short to chase perfection, right?

Flat twists

What I know for sure.
First time trial ain’t enough for what I know for sure but am gonna use the phrase anyway because why not and every first time has lessons too.

⦁ Don’t flat twist on untangled hair, get rid of all the tangles and knots first. You don’t want to snap off your hair while trying to get the tangles and knots off which can be so frustrating especially if you have no time to properly detangle while twisting.
⦁ Flat twist on well/super moisturized hair. I love the feel of moisturized hair, makes me fall in love with my hair more and that’s one of the reasons for always working with moisturized hair.

Moisturized hair is easier to work with and less prone to breakage. I had the flat twists for a week and when I took them down, my hair was still soft and moisturized.
⦁ Don’t hold your strands too tightly when twisting. This causes tension and stress on your strands and scalp. Let the twists be firmly held but not tight, makes sense? Tight styles weaken your hair making it prone to breakage.

Flat twists

⦁ I will always braid the ends because I didn’t try and two strand twist the ends since my paranoia was all screams, ‘ that’s a lot of hair for two strand twists just braid it.’ Have seen twisted flat twists ends on other naturals and I’ll twist the ends too next time.
⦁ Flat twists are easier to plait and more gentle to your scalp and hair than cornrows(my opinion) . I would love to get your opinion on this if you have tried cornrows and flat twists.
⦁ Lastly, I know flat twists are my next struggle. I wanna nail them and wear them effortlessly and with lots of pride. Will be trying them again soon.

Styled flat twists
That’s all on my what I know for sure about flat twists and I would love for you to share with me your flat twist experiences as well as the Do’s and Don’ts of flat twists.
